Application Delivery and Security
Application delivery and load balancing technologies are the foundation for keeping applications and environments secure and available. Applications change quickly and updating the infrastructure components like load balancing, acceleration, and security can be time-consuming and tedious. Human error can cost valuable time and sometimes create security vulnerabilities.
Pliant automation can ensure quick and consistent configuration of application delivery infrastructure in environments where F5, A10, and other content delivery systems are being utilized.
Application Delivery and Security Infrastructure
Pliant’s unified platform for IT Process Automation, organizations can create sophisticated logic with simple drag and drop low/no-code blocks to configure application load balancing components and application firewall rules to ensure fast and secure application deployment.
To move at the speed of digital business, organizations require a holistic solution to application acceleration and security –one that can totally eliminate human intervention when creating, configuring, and deploying application delivery controllers.
Pliant delivers turnkey, out of the box automation workflows that enable consistent, error-free ADC deployment and configuration.
Case Study: Auto-Provisioning secure applications using the F5 ADC.
A large enterprise operations center was faced with the challenge of quickly deploying secure load-balanced applications. This included creating and applying SSL certificates for the new applications and modifying firewall rules across multiple F5 ADC’s, some of which were on-premise and some were in AWS.
Pliant’s ITPA workflows allow IT organizations to quickly provision HTTPS applications utilizing a variety of technology integrations residing in a single, secure platform. Low-code / no-code automation simplifies the IT skillset required to interact with both the F5 ADC, your certificate authority (CA) of choice, and the supporting infrastructure. Automation not only reduces time loss due to swivel chair configuration tasks required to deploy an application but eliminates the possibility of human error.
Pliant combines a number of technologies to automate the process of installing a certificate on your ADC. The Pliant integration for F5 contains action blocks for all of the functions available in F5’s iControl library and also supports the F5 AS3 declarative technology. Automation workflows instruct the ADC to generate a CSR which is then transferred to the certificate authority (CA). The new private key and the certificate obtained from the CA is installed on all of the F5 ADC’s that will load balance this application.
Pliant automation creates the application components such as the VIP IP address, real server IP addresses, and the SNAT pool to be used – then pushes the configuration in a declarative statement. This whole process takes about two minutes compared to the one to two hours normally required for an organization to deploy an application to a single F5 ADC. The time saving is multiplied when the configuration was applied to many different F5 instances both on-prem and virtual edition (VE) instances in the cloud.
Beyond the protection of the encryption provided by an SSL certificate, applications are also secured with the correct Application Security Module (ASM) security policies. Automating the deployment of ASM policies drives consistent security across the enterprise. Pliant workflows ensure that modified ASM policies can be re-deployed to all of your ADC’s in seconds.
